Electric transportation offers great potential to stop the burning of our planet. When someone offers a solution to the degradation of our environment, first ask, “Does it require the burning of something?”
Burning just about anything creates pollution, especially carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide increases the green house effect and global climate change.
People and companies that make money by burning things offer up solutions that may sound great. A recent example is the Natural Gas Industry. They claim that burning natural gas is a good replacement for burning coal. A little research shows that huge amount of water are used to flush natural gas from deep in the ground. This causes water pollution in underground rivers and the wells people and communities use for drinking. Clean water becomes harder to find and promises to be the next great resource problem. Meanwhile, natural gas burns to produce power. More CO2. More green house gas.
These resource burners say we don’t have time to produce renewable energy sources fast enough to replace coal or natural gas or gasoline. This simply isn’t true. Wind energy and solar abounds and can very quickly be brought on line. Wind energy represents great opportunity because the huge wind turbines are too large to ship here from overseas. They create jobs near where they will be placed. Many maintenance jobs are also created.
